<\/p>\nThe Women’s Empowerment Unit at the College of Media, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar titled “Women’s Political Participation,” with wide participation from researchers and specialists in the field, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Rana Ali Al-Shujairi.<\/p>\n
The seminar aimed to shed light on the role of women in the political arena and enhance public understanding of the importance of their participation in decision-making processes and political life. It also aimed to review the challenges facing women in politics and provide recommendations and solutions to enhance their role and achieve gender equality in society.<\/p>\n
During the seminar, a group of researchers presented research papers covering various topics related to women’s roles in the political scene. Dr. Rana Ali Al-Shujairi initiated the seminar with her research on the stages of political participation and its importance for women. Meanwhile, Dr. Ahmed Fadel discussed the role of women in international peacebuilding, and Dr. Huda Ali presented a study on women’s roles in parliament at the Arab level.<\/p>\n
Assistant Professor Hanin Qasim also reviewed several experiences regarding women’s leadership in international organizations, while Assistant Professor Duaa Saadi discussed women’s participation in party politics. Assistant Professor Ghofran Ali addressed the role of women in political decision-making within the framework of the political process. Finally, Dr. Yasra Hamza spoke about the most prominent challenges facing the work of women in politics.<\/p>\n
Organizing this seminar is part of the college’s efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development, especially Goal 5 and Goal 10, which aim to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, empower them in all areas, and achieve gender equality.<\/p>\n
