<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Students at the College of Media, University of Baghdad, Dr. Shakria Kokz Al-Sarraj, chaired the opening session of the second International Scientific Conference for Women, held in the Turkish capital, Istanbul, from March 6th to 9th, 2024, with the participation of researchers representing 12 Arab and foreign countries.<\/p>\n
The conference aimed to shed light on the problems and obstacles facing studies on women’s issues in the Middle East region, in addition to discussing new issues locally and globally. Its axes focused on several areas including: women’s relationship with media and journalism, as well as politics, economy, education, law, and other vital fields.<\/p>\n
As part of her participation, Dr. Shakria Kokz Al-Sarraj presented a scientific research entitled “Journalistic Treatment of Social Rights Topics for Women in the Iraqi Press: An Analytical Study in Al-Zaman and Al-Mada Newspapers as Models.” She also conducted a field study of a sample of Iraqi female academics to uncover the actual treatments of women’s issues in Iraq and the world.<\/p>\n
This participation represents the University of Baghdad, specifically the Journalism Department at the College of Media, and represents Iraq in general in the field of media studies.<\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the scientific event, Dr. Shakria Al-Sarraj presented the college’s appreciation shield to Dr. Amer Kaplan, the director of Reimar Research Academy, in recognition of his regional and international scientific efforts and contributions.<\/p>\n
The participation of the College of Media in this international conference aligns with Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.<\/p>\n
