the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled <em>\u201cMedia Semiotics.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\nThe session was presented by lecturer<strong> Zainab Jumaa<\/strong> and attended by a group of students and several faculty members interested in the field of media discourse analysis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The workshop addressed the concept of semiotics and its role in understanding media messages.<br \/>\nIt highlighted how signs, symbols, and signals contribute to the construction of meaning within various media forms \u2014 whether in images, news reports, advertisements, or audiovisual materials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The lecturer emphasized that studying semiotics enables the audience to interpret media content consciously and analyze what lies beyond words and images, thereby promoting critical thinking and uncovering hidden messages in media discourse.<br \/>\nThis workshop is part of a series of scholarly activities organized by the Continuing Education Unit at the college, aiming to develop students\u2019 analytical and cognitive skills and to keep pace with intellectual developments in the
