The Guidance and Counseling Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop focusing on the importance of self-control for university students. The workshop aimed to develop behavioral awareness and enhance students\u2019 ability to manage their emotions in both academic and social settings.
\nThe session was presented by Dr. Ria Qahtan Ahmed for undergraduate students. She discussed self-control as a learned skill that can be developed through training and practice, rather than an innate trait. The workshop also highlighted the nature of human emotions and how to manage them consciously to achieve psychological balance and respond thoughtfully to various situations.
\nDr. Ria Qahtan emphasized that students face numerous situations during their university life that may trigger emotional responses of varying intensity. This requires training the mind and self to control these emotions and avoid impulsive reactions that could negatively affect social relationships within and outside the university environment.
\nThe workshop concluded that developing self-control skills contributes to building a more balanced, mature, and wise personality. It enhances self-confidence and prepares students to fulfill their societal roles responsibly, aligning with broader efforts to support mental health and promote sustainable development in educational institutions.<\/p>\n
