The Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a seminar titled \u201cThe Impact of Internet Language on Students\u2019 Spelling Skills,\u201d presented by Associate Professor Dr. Khulood Jabbar, with the participation of a number of students and individuals interested in linguistic and media matters.<\/p>\n

The seminar addressed the major changes brought about by Internet language and social media in students\u2019 writing, particularly regarding the use of abbreviations, symbols, and non-standard spelling, which may affect the level of academic writing among students.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jabbar presented several examples illustrating the impact of intensive digital platform use on the integrity of the Arabic language, emphasizing the importance of enhancing students\u2019 proper writing skills and providing continuous linguistic training to preserve correct written expression\u2014especially for media students, for whom language is a primary professional tool.<\/p>\n

The seminar featured active student participation through comments and questions, focusing on ways to balance the use of Internet language in daily life while maintaining proper linguistic rules in academic and media writing.<\/p>\n

This seminar is part of the scientific activities organized by the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, aiming to develop students\u2019 academic and professional skills and raise their awareness of the linguistic challenges posed by the modern digital environment.<\/p>\n
