The \u201cA Better Tomorrow\u201d team from the Public Relations Department at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organised an awareness seminar titled \u201cFrom Noise to Calm\u2026 From Chaos to Beauty\u201d as part of graduation projects, prepared by students Fatima Adel Haider and Maryam Hameed Sakar, under the supervision of a group of faculty members.<\/p>\n

The seminar was attended by a number of specialists, including urban planner Kazem Mohammed, senior engineer Professor Wissam George Jibrael, and Head of the Air Department Ali Jaber. Discussions focused on noise and visual pollution, highlighting their causes, impact on the environment and society, and their widespread presence in public spaces.<\/p>\n

Participants stressed the importance of joint efforts between government institutions and the community to reduce these phenomena and improve Baghdad\u2019s urban landscape in a way that reflects a more organised and aesthetically pleasing city image.<\/p>\n

The seminar concluded with a set of practical recommendations, including calling on the Baghdad Mayoralty to regulate advertisements, remove visual violations, control noise levels, expand green spaces, and impose fines on violators. The Ministry of Environment was also urged to launch awareness campaigns, set noise standards, strengthen cooperation with media and educational institutions, and conduct regular field studies. At the community level, recommendations included reducing the use of car horns, avoiding random posting of advertisements, maintaining city cleanliness, and promoting environmental awareness.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, organisers emphasised that tackling noise and visual pollution is a shared responsibility that contributes to building a healthy and sustainable urban environment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals\u2014particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which aims to make cities more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.<\/p>\n
