The Department of Digital Journalism at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized scientific workshop titled \u201cProfessional Standards in Media Monitoring of News: The Case of Al-Sabah and Al-Mada Newspapers,\u201d delivered by Prof. Dr. Shukriya Kawkaz Al-Sarraj for doctoral students, in the presence of a group of academics, media practitioners, and interested parties in the media field.
\nThe workshop discussed several core topics regarding the importance of professional media monitoring in news production, including the quality standards and criteria that media professionals should rely on when following and presenting news across various media and communication platforms.
\nDuring the workshop, Dr. Al-Sarraj highlighted the critical roles that media play in raising societal awareness and ensuring professional standards, emphasizing that media monitoring is not merely following the news, but a powerful tool for promoting professional and ethical values within media institutions.
\nThe workshop also examined Al-Sabah and Al-Mada newspapers as practical models, illustrating their approaches to news monitoring and analysis, as well as the challenges faced by journalists in an environment characterized by the rapid flow of information and the diversity of sources.
