The Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled \u201cWomen\u2019s Excellence in Public Relations and Institutional Communication,\u201d presented by Assistant Lecturer Katman Khudair, as part of a series of activities aimed at enhancing students\u2019 professional and leadership skills.<\/p>\n

The workshop addressed the vital role of women in public relations and media, highlighting their importance in managing media campaigns and effective communication with audiences, as well as their ability to influence through communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.<\/p>\n

It also explored the concept of women\u2019s empowerment and the challenges women face in the workplace, while presenting successful female role models who have left a significant mark on the media landscape, most notably the late journalist Atwar Bahjat.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the key roles of women in public relations and to emphasize their active contribution to social development, in addition to raising awareness about the importance of empowering women and strengthening their leadership presence within public and private institutions.<\/p>\n

The lecturer recommended the need to support female competencies and remove professional barriers to ensure they acquire the necessary life and career skills that qualify them for meaningful participation in future society-building.<\/p>\n

The outcomes of this workshop align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality), which focuses on empowering all women and girls and ensuring their full and effective participation in leadership, as well as Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by promoting an inclusive and equitable work environment that supports women\u2019s professional excellence.<\/p>\n
