The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop titled \u201cNews and the Newsroom Manager: Editorial Decision-Making, Team Management, and Breaking News Handling,\u201d under the patronage of Dean Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher. The workshop was held as part of the \u201cRenewed Path\u201d project for media curriculum development, in cooperation with France M\u00e9dias Monde.<\/p>\n

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Saif Hadid, a faculty member at the College, who outlined newsroom management mechanisms, editorial decision-making processes, and the organization of media teams. He also highlighted the skills required to handle breaking news in line with professional standards.<\/p>\n

Dean Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher emphasized that the College of Mass Communication continues to implement specialized training programs aimed at developing students\u2019 skills, noting that strengthening the practical dimension of media education remains a priority to prepare students for the fast-paced media industry.<\/p>\n

Dr. Saif Hadid noted that effective newsroom management requires advanced leadership and editorial skills, stressing the importance of hands-on training in shaping a professional media personality capable of making decisions under various conditions, particularly when dealing with breaking news.<\/p>\n

The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Safad Hossam Hammoudi from the Department of Radio and Television. The workshop was attended by faculty members and first-year students from the Digital Journalism and Radio and Television departments.<\/p>\n

The workshop featured practical exercises and interactive discussions focused on enhancing students\u2019 skills in managing news operations, making editorial decisions, and working under time pressure in dynamic media environments.<\/p>\n

This workshop is part of a series of training activities organized by the College to refine students\u2019 skills and prepare them for the labor market. It also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education).<\/p>\n
