The Arabic Language Safety Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled \u201cLinguistic Manipulation Techniques in Political Marketing During Elections,\u201d presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Tareesh Al-Aqabi under the supervision of the unit\u2019s coordinator, Assistant Professor Dr. Nibras Hussein Mahawish.<\/p>\n

The workshop addressed several topics, focusing on the concepts of language and media language, the importance of language in media and mass communication, and its influence on shaping public opinion. It also examined linguistic manipulation techniques used in political marketing, particularly during election periods, explaining how political marketers use language and appealing slogans to persuade audiences and influence their decisions.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, Dr. Al-Aqabi stressed the importance of raising public awareness of manipulative marketing techniques and cautioned against being driven by emotions without carefully analyzing political messages.<\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with a set of guidelines and recommendations aimed at helping audiences avoid linguistic manipulation and promoting the responsible use of language in election campaigns.<\/p>\n

The workshop is part of the College of Mass Communication\u2019s efforts to promote media awareness and the proper use of language among students and those interested in media and mass communication, while enhancing understanding of the influence of language on society and politics. It also supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.<\/p>\n
