{"id":5112,"date":"2026-03-12T09:34:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T09:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.comc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5112"},"modified":"2026-03-12T09:41:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T09:41:29","slug":"guidance-unit-holds-workshop-on-medias-role-in-exposing-human-trafficking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.comc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5112","title":{"rendered":"Guidance Unit Holds Workshop on Media\u2019s Role in Exposing Human Trafficking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Guidance and Counseling Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled \u201cMedia and Its Role in Exposing International Human Trafficking Networks,\u201d presented by Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ghurairi and Assistant Professor Dr. Safad Hussam Hammoudi, with the attendance of a number of students from the Department of Radio and Television.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop addressed key concepts related to human trafficking, its forms, and the mechanisms used by trafficking networks, with a focus on the risks of falling victim to such networks, particularly through social media platforms. It also highlighted the role of the media in exposing these criminal practices and shedding light on victims, while emphasizing journalists\u2019 ethical and professional responsibility when covering this issue and protecting victims\u2019 privacy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop also emphasized the importance of information verification and developing students\u2019 digital media skills to counter misinformation and expose organized crimes.
