{"id":5245,"date":"2026-04-13T09:37:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T09:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.comc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5245"},"modified":"2026-04-13T09:40:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T09:40:34","slug":"college-of-mass-communication-holds-workshop-on-challenges-facing-women-in-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.comc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5245","title":{"rendered":"College of Mass Communication Holds Workshop on Challenges Facing Women in Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled \u201cWomen and Media Work: Challenges and Obstacles,\u201d presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Ali Al-Shujairi, a faculty member in the Department of Radio and Television.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of women\u2019s roles in media and highlighted prominent women journalists who have made significant contributions to the local and international media landscape, focusing on their professional careers and successful experiences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop aimed to examine the key challenges affecting women\u2019s performance in the media sector and the obstacles that may hinder their careers in newspapers and satellite television channels. It also explored ways to overcome these challenges and achieve professional stability that supports women\u2019s leadership roles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lecturer emphasized the need to provide greater opportunities for women and ensure equal access to employment opportunities comparable to those available to men, while strengthening their ability to cope with professional and field-related pressures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop is part of a series of academic and empowerment activities organized by the College of Mass Communication to support women professionals and develop female students\u2019 skills, in line with its academic vision of promoting women\u2019s role in building society and advancing media discourse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The outcomes of the workshop align with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and
