The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Media, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Water Pollution: Causes and Solutions,” presented by Assistant Instructor Ahmed Fadel, with the attendance of the college staff.
The workshop aimed to identify the main causes of water pollution and its sources, whether they are natural or from the waste of living organisms, or caused by certain human activities, which are the most widespread, such as sewage, agricultural fertilizers, chemical waste, and others.
It included statistics and data on the water situation in Iraq, and how this pollution affects the lives of the population, causing various repercussions, most notably the increase in diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis, typhoid, and polio.
This activity aligns with Goal 6 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which aims at clean water and sanitation.
