The Department of Radio and Television in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, organized a conference titled “Arabic Language Mistakes among Iraqi Government Employees”. The conference aimed to identify and overcome linguistic errors committed by employees in various government departments under the supervision of Dr. Zainab Jumaa, an Arabic language specialist.
The conference aimed to provide linguistic education and self-improvement for government employees in Iraq, enhancing their Arabic language proficiency and increasing their awareness of common linguistic mistakes they make.
The conference was attended by a number of government employees interested in developing their language skills. It shed light on the common errors made by employees in using the Arabic language and clarified the correct foundations and rules of Arabic language, as well as strategies for overcoming these errors. Dr. Zainab provided practical examples of common mistakes and explained the correct ways to address them.
In her speech, Dr. Jumaa emphasized the “importance of improving the Arabic language proficiency of employees”, pointing out that “Arabic is the primary means of communication in government work and enhances efficiency and professionalism”, She affirmed that “the main objective of the conference is to empower employees to improve their linguistic skills, thereby enhancing their understanding of government laws and instructions, and improving their ability to communicate clearly and effectively with citizens”.
Dr. Zainab highlighted that “the conference not only aimed to provide ready-made linguistic templates but focused on empowering employees to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for analyzing and correcting linguistic errors independently”, She encouraged participants to “engage in reading, refer to reliable linguistic sources, and listen to correct Arabic language usage in media and daily conversations”.
At the end of the conference, Dr. Zainab expressed her hope that “the conference would have a positive impact on the Arabic language proficiency of government employees in Iraq, and that the knowledge and skills acquired would be applied in their professional lives”.
It is worth mentioning that this conference is part of ongoing efforts to raise the Arabic language proficiency in the Iraqi government and enhance professionalism in government work. It reflects the commitment of the government sector to develop the capabilities of its employees and provide a work environment that relies on correct and proficient Arabic language usage.
