OUR HISTORY

The Department of Radio and Television Journalism is one of the ancient scientific departments in the College of Mass Communication, as it was born as a specialized branch in the Department of Mass Communication before it turned into an independent scientific department after the founding of the College in 2002.
It includes a number of academic and professional professors, and the Radio and Television Journalism Department is witnessing a great turnout by those enrolled in the College of Information, due to the excitement, fascination and fame that radio and television provide, in addition to the large number of these two means, whether inside or outside Iraq.

Vision and Massage

Work on developing a strategy that does two things:
1. Developing journalistic specialization in the field of radio and television at the professional, critical and academic levels.
2. Enabling radio and television as knowledge and cultural means, enhancing their role in community service, and working on developing it.
3. Supporting the goals and functions related to radio and television in the field of monitoring society and achieving development goals in all fields.

OUR Objectives

The department seeks, through its vision and mission, to achieve the following goals:
1. Graduating media teams armed with professional, artistic and media culture that are able to access the labor market with high capabilities and qualifications.
2. Diversifying the sources of specialized knowledge for graduates of the department in all areas and fields in order to achieve culture and encyclopedic knowledge for new journalists.
3. Mixing editorial capabilities and knowledge with other technical and technical aspects, in order to achieve the concept of a comprehensive journalist who is an expert in his various fields of work.
4. Developing the spirit of criticism, evaluation, and review among journalists through a system of knowledge that students are equipped with, with the aim of granting them cultural immunity to protect society’s values and identity, and to perpetuate its constants.
5. Promoting a culture of freedom of expression, respect for human and community rights, and respect for public and personal freedoms as one of the principles of free journalistic work.
6. Enhancing scientific research skills and principles among graduates of the department through an integrated scientific system in order to enhance the spirit of scientific, organized and logical thinking among young journalists.
