About Public Relations Department

The Department of Public Relations was established recently compared to the Department of Journalism and Radio and Television Journalism, as it was associated with the establishment of the college in 2002. Its birth came to meet the real needs of society after Public Relations became the civilized interface for any institution, whether governmental or private. The Public Relations Department includes specialized professors to teach students and train them on the skills of public relations and its complex work in departments, companies, and public or private bodies, through the use of the latest academic curricula and the best practical methods.
The Department of Public Relations was established in 2004-2005, and Dr. Ali Jabbar Al-Shammari assumed the presidency of the department. The department adopted the scientific vocabulary of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at the Faculty of Information – Cairo University.
In the year 2006-2007, Dr. Abdul Mohsen Al-Shafei held the chair of the department. In 2007-2008, Dr. Raya Qahtan Ahmed headed the department.
The department is currently headed by Dr. Muhammad Abd Hassan Al-Amiri.
In 2007-2008, I graduated from the first courses of the department.

OUR Vision

The Department of Public Relations is one of the scientific departments of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, which allows the student to study in it in theoretical and practical fields in the undergraduate and graduate studies, which are accompanied by practical applications in various state institutions, which highlights the richness of scientific knowledge that the department provides to its students in terms of theoretical and practical vocabulary. The department is aware that there are many obstacles and competition challenges facing it, and it seeks in the coming years to maintain its position and leadership in the fields of education, scientific research and community service, while developing the programs it offers to its students in the scientific and training fields inside and outside the college to qualify them to meet the requirements of the labor market. We believe that the real democratic transformation in supporting the public relations agencies within the state departments and the general community has established the citizen’s feeling that he is a true partner with the state in the required transformation.
