In an effort to promote academic research and dialogue, Dr. Azhar Sabih Ghantab, the Head of Journalism Department at the College of Media, Baghdad University, participated in the discussion of a Master’s thesis titled “Employing Iraqi Journalism for Caricature Art in Critiquing Corruption – An Analytical Study of Al-Sabah, Al-Dustour, and Al-Mada Newspapers” at the College of Arts, Tikrit University.
The thesis focused on analyzing the role of caricature art as an influential artistic and journalistic tool in critiquing corruption in Iraq. This was achieved through studying and analyzing the content of Iraqi newspapers “Al-Sabah,” “Al-Dustour,” and “Al-Mada.”
The thesis defense committee was chaired by Dr. Fareed Saleh Fayyad and included Dr. Azhar Sabih Ghantab and Assistant Professor Dr. Habib Khalf Mulih, along with the supervisor, Assistant Professor Dr. Issa Ayad Majid.
Dr. Azhar Sabih Ghantab praised the quality of the research and the efforts made by the researcher, Fahd Mubrid Aboud, in completing this comprehensive and valuable study, which contributes to enriching knowledge and understanding the challenges of journalism in confronting corruption.
At the conclusion of the defense, the committee expressed its full satisfaction with the thesis’s quality and discussion, expressing hopes that this study would garner attention from media outlets, journalists, and researchers alike, in the field of journalism and anti-corruption efforts in Iraq.
