Our University
Ensuring access to affordable and clean energy for all and promoting sustainable energy by 2030 is essential. The university must work to improve energy access, achieve diversity in energy sources, and enhance energy efficiency.
In the context of the University of Baghdad, achieving this goal encompasses several aspects, such as: Ensuring sustainable and affordable access to electricity for everyone on campus and increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy mix, including solar and wind power. Solar panels are installed in various areas of the campus, and there is also a focus on harnessing hydropower through turbines placed at the water gates leading into the watercourse surrounding the campus. The university supports innovation and scientific research in developing clean energy technologies, with the Department of Energy Engineering and the Department of Petroleum Engineering in the College of Engineering playing significant roles in advancing the university’s efforts in this field.
