Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Scientific Assistant to the President of the University of Baghdad, commended the significant efforts of the College of Mass Communication in organizing the Sixth International Scientific Conference and the Eighteenth Annual Conference under the theme “Media Between Legislation and Professional Ethics,” held in cooperation with the College of Law. He emphasized that this collaboration reflects a necessary intellectual integration between media and law in light of current professional developments.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, Dr. Abdullah conveyed the greetings of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, to the College’s Deanship, faculty members, and participating researchers. He praised the College’s role in presenting a solid scientific achievement aligned with the University’s strategy to advance research and enhance its societal impact.

He highlighted that the conference serves as an important scientific platform to discuss media legislation and professional ethics in the context of digital transformations and the rapid dissemination of information. He noted that the chosen themes effectively respond to the media field’s need for clear legal frameworks and professional principles that enhance the quality, freedom, and responsibility of media messages.

Dr. Abdullah pointed out that the collaboration with the College of Law adds an intellectual dimension to the conference, enriching dialogue and establishing a shared vision that combines legal expertise with media practice, contributing to a deeper understanding of professional and legislative standards.

He also commended the organizational efforts of the College’s Deanship and its scientific, preparatory, and media committees, highlighting the distinguished image they presented that reflects the University’s academic leadership. He praised the wide scientific attendance, including researchers, professors, and undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Scientific Assistant concluded by reaffirming the University of Baghdad’s continued support for the College of Mass Communication’s conferences and scientific activities, noting their crucial role in strengthening the national media environment, promoting respect for the law, and achieving the fourth goal: Quality Education, sixteenth goal: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and other Sustainable Development Goals related to education, active institutions, and community awareness.
