The Radio and Television Department at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organised a specialised scientific workshop titled “The Future of Radio and Television Research”, with the participation of several faculty members and the attendance of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr Ammar Taher, and the Head of the Department, Professor Dr Ali Abbas.

The workshop addressed the major transformations taking place in the radio and television sector amid rapid digital development, as well as the impact of modern technologies on the nature of media research. It also explored future trends in academic studies related to television and radio production.

Participants also discussed the importance of employing artificial intelligence tools and data analysis in advancing media research, alongside the need to update academic curricula in line with changes in the media work environment, in order to prepare students capable of adapting to labour market demands.

The workshop also featured a range of ideas and proposals aimed at enhancing the quality of scientific research within the department and strengthening collaboration among faculty members to produce rigorous studies that keep pace with global developments in the field of media.

In conclusion, participants emphasised the importance of continuing such scientific activities, which contribute to the development of both teaching and research processes and reinforce the status of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad as a leading academic institution in media studies. This aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, through supporting scientific research and developing academic skills in service of society and sustainable development.
