The Dean of the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, discussed during an official meeting with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Academic and Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Zahad, ways to enhance academic cooperation with the French side, particularly with France Medias Monde, and the adoption of the Bologna Path in media colleges and departments in Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Hazem Abdul Razzaq, Director of the Directorate of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Sadiq Awad, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Scholarships and Cultural Relations. The discussions focused on mechanisms to develop media education in accordance with modern European standards.
The participants emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between Iraqi media colleges and departments and French media institutions, which would contribute to modernizing curricula, enhancing practical training, and facilitating academic and administrative procedures for implementing joint programs, particularly those related to the “Renewed Path” Project.
The meeting also confirmed the necessity of adopting the Bologna Path in media colleges and departments as a strategic step to organize study programs, standardize academic criteria, and facilitate the mobility of students and faculty, in line with institutional accreditation requirements and higher education quality standards.
The attendees affirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the College of Mass Communication to support development initiatives, overcome obstacles facing international partnerships, and enhance the status of media education in Iraq, opening new horizons for academic cooperation with reputable international institutions, foremost among them France Medias Monde.
