The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a training workshop titled “Modern Journalistic Editing: Skills and Methods,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Jaafar Shaheed, as part of its programs aimed at developing professional capacities and enhancing media skills.
During the workshop, Dr. Shaheed presented a scientific overview of the major transformations in journalistic editing, and the modern methods used in writing news, reports, and investigative journalism, in line with the requirements of digital media and the rapid flow of information.
The workshop also covered a set of practical skills, including crafting catchy headlines, structuring the body of news articles according to professional standards, handling sources, and addressing common editorial mistakes along with ways to correct them. Participants were encouraged to engage in discussions and interactive sessions.
This workshop is part of the College of Mass Communication’s ongoing efforts to promote continuing education and link academic knowledge with practical application, contributing to the preparation of qualified media professionals capable of keeping pace with the fast-evolving media landscape, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to quality education and human capacity building.
