The Chair of the Department of Digital Journalism at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Azhar Subih Ghentab, highlighted the academic standards for writing research abstracts during a scientific workshop organized by the College’s Continuing Education Unit, with the participation of faculty members and postgraduate students.
During the workshop, Dr. Ghentab addressed the scientific and methodological foundations for writing rigorous research abstracts, emphasizing that “the abstract serves as the first interface of a research study and one of its most important elements in academic publishing, as it reflects the research idea, objectives, methodology, and results in a precise and concise manner.”
She also outlined common mistakes in abstract writing and stressed the importance of clarity, accuracy, and proper academic language, with particular attention to selecting appropriate keywords that enhance the research’s visibility in scholarly databases and reputable journals.
