A PhD thesis titled “Employing Public Relations Communication Activities in Shaping the Mental Image of Independent Economic Organizations: An Analytical Study of the Facebook Pages of the Iraqi Federation of Industries, Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Iraqi Businessmen, Alongside a Field Study of Economic Organizations’ Audiences” was discussed at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, by researcher Marwan Falah Hadi.
The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Nahidh Fadhil Zaidan, with Assistant Professor Dr. Riya Qahtan Ahmed serving as supervisor. Committee members included Professor Dr. Salim Jasim Mohammed, Professor Dr. Hussein Dubai Hassan, Assistant Professor Dr. Jasim Tarish Ghadheeb, and Professor Dr. Amani Albert Adeeb as an external member.
The thesis aimed to identify how public relations communication activities are employed in shaping the mental image of independent economic organizations among audiences.
The findings showed that audiences of economic organizations follow their Facebook pages to obtain information about activities, trade events, and economic conferences.
The thesis recommended that independent economic organizations move from one-way communication patterns toward interactive communication, in addition to enhancing digital communication performance through the use of interactive communication tools and building a unified visual and communication identity that reflects the institutional character of these organizations.
The outcomes of the thesis align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on “Quality Education” and Goal 16 related to building strong and effective institutions.
