The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled “Enhancing Collective Participation in the Decision-Making Process in Institutions,” presented by Dr. Huda Ali and Ms. Noor Adel, as part of its efforts to develop professional and academic capacities.
The workshop addressed decision-making as a cognitive and intellectual process based on comprehensive analysis of a situation and anticipation of outcomes. It also outlined the key steps involved, starting from identifying and analyzing the problem to implementing the final decision.
The workshop aimed to improve the quality of services provided to citizens and promote the exchange of ideas and opinions to reach decisions collectively, thereby strengthening a culture of group participation in problem-solving as a fundamental pillar for institutional success.
The lecturers emphasized that collective participation in decision-making is not merely an administrative method, but an institutional culture that enhances efficiency, transparency, and the achievement of shared goals. They noted that the broader the circle of participation within an institution, the higher the quality of decisions and the greater the level of job satisfaction, which in turn positively reflects on institutional performance.
The outcomes of the workshop align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Goal 10 on reducing inequalities.
