The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled “Methods of Countering Rumors and Directed Propaganda,” presented by Dr. Rana Abdul Latif, with the participation of faculty members and researchers.

The workshop aimed to raise academic and public awareness of the dangers of false information and to strengthen participants’ ability to distinguish between verified facts and misleading propaganda that threatens social stability.

The session highlighted practical approaches to combating rumors, including verifying information before sharing it, confirming the credibility of sources, and avoiding the dissemination of unverified content. It also emphasized the importance of official communication platforms in countering misinformation by providing accurate information and credible evidence to refute false claims.

The workshop concluded with extensive discussions, during which participants stressed the importance of expanding such scientific activities to address contemporary media challenges. The workshop’s outcomes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
