A master’s thesis entitled “The Role of Public Relations in Shaping Public Attitudes Toward the Electronic Services of the Iraqi Ministry of Trade: A Field Study of Baghdad Residents” was discussed at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, by researcher Ayat Hatem Hussein.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Jaafar Shaheed Hashim, with Professor Ali Jabbar Al-Shammari serving as the supervisor. Committee members included Assistant Professor Raya Qahtan Ahmed and Assistant Professor Laith Sabbar Jaber as the external examiner.

The study explored the role of public relations in the digital environment, focusing on how the Iraqi Ministry of Trade uses public relations to shape public perceptions and attitudes toward its electronic services.

The findings revealed strong positive public attitudes toward digital transformation, with respondents recognizing electronic services as the most effective means of reducing effort and combating administrative corruption.

The thesis recommended launching intensive awareness campaigns through social media platforms to introduce the public to the Ministry’s electronic services. It also called for simplifying user guides by producing short instructional videos that clearly explain how to apply for these services.

The study’s outcomes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
