The Qualification and Employment Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, held a training workshop titled “Time Management and Prioritization.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr Aws Mahmoud Mohammed, a faculty member at the University of Baghdad’s Continuing Education Center, with the participation of a number of the college’s students and graduates. The event was part of the unit’s professional development programmes aimed at enhancing career readiness and developing skills relevant to the labour market.
The workshop addressed time management as a key skill for academic and professional success, focusing on setting priorities, effective task planning, reducing time wastage, and balancing academic, professional and personal commitments. The lecturer also presented practical models and tools to help students and graduates improve productivity and performance in line with the demands of modern workplaces, which require strong organisational skills and timely decision-making.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the organisers stressed the importance of incorporating time-management skills into university training programmes, given their direct impact on improving employment prospects and strengthening graduates’ competitiveness. They noted that such activities support Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth by developing skills that help young people engage effectively in the labour market and contribute to sustainable productivity.
