Prof. Dr. Ammar Tahir Mohammed, Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, reaffirmed his support for student initiatives that promote sustainable development and strengthen environmental awareness on campus.
The statement came during his meeting with the “Bebon” team, a student group from the Department of Public Relations at the College that works on environmental and awareness initiatives aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting tree planting and environmental conservation. The team is supervised by Prof. Dr. Irada Al-Jubouri.
The Dean praised the team’s efforts in organizing activities and events that support a clean environment and raise environmental awareness among students. He emphasized that the College of Mass Communication is committed to supporting projects and activities focused on sustainability, tree planting, and creating a healthy and safe campus environment.
He noted that the College’s support for such initiatives reflects its vision of engaging students in serving the community and environment and encouraging them to launch volunteer initiatives that promote sustainable development and contribute to a greener and more sustainable campus.
The initiative is part of the College of Mass Communication’s efforts to support environmental activities aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 15: Life on Land, through supporting tree-planting campaigns, raising environmental awareness, and creating a clean and safe campus environment that contributes to protecting natural resources and advancing sustainable development within the university community.
