The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad participated in National Tree-Planting Day as part of the University administration’s efforts to expand green spaces on campus and promote environmental awareness among students and faculty members.
The campaign was directly supervised by Prof. Dr. Ammar Tahir Mohammed, Dean of the College, and attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students. The campaign included planting a number of trees and plants in the College’s gardens and walkways, contributing to a healthier campus environment and enhancing its appearance through greater attention to nature.
The Dean emphasized that such environmental initiatives are in line with the University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting activities that promote environmental awareness among students and reinforce the values of volunteerism and social responsibility. He also noted that tree planting is an important step toward protecting the environment and improving the climate within educational institutions.
Through its participation in initiatives of this kind, the College of Mass Communication supports efforts to protect the environment and expand green spaces on campus, strengthening the role of academic institutions in promoting a culture of sustainability.
The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, which universities seek to advance by promoting positive environmental practices, expanding green spaces, and contributing to a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.The Department of Radio and Television at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized an environmental tree-planting campaign titled “Our College Is Green,” under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Al-Ithawi, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students from the department.
The campaign aimed to raise environmental awareness among students and promote a culture of caring for green spaces on campus. It also sought to improve the university environment and enhance its appearance while fostering a spirit of teamwork and social responsibility.
The campaign included planting a number of trees and plants in the College’s gardens and facilities, reflecting the Department of Radio and Television’s commitment to supporting volunteer and environmental activities that contribute to building a healthy and sustainable educational environment.
The initiative is in line with the University of Baghdad’s efforts to support environmental activities, promote sustainable development, and strengthen the role of educational institutions in raising environmental awareness among students and the wider community.
