Professor Ammar Taher Mohammed, Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, discussed with the heads of volunteer committees in the college’s three departments and the Student Activities Division ways to develop volunteer work and organize its programs in line with the university and college’s mission of serving the community.
The meeting addressed the preparation of an integrated program for the college’s volunteer teams, including the organization of volunteer events, initiatives, and field visits, along with establishing clear mechanisms for documenting activities and monitoring their implementation.
The Dean emphasized the importance of establishing clear standards for volunteer campaigns and activities to ensure that they are effective, productive, and capable of making a tangible impact on the community. He also stressed the need to expand participation to include as many faculty and staff members and students as possible, fostering initiative, social responsibility, and teamwork across the college.
This initiative reflects the College of Mass Communication’s commitment to promoting a culture of volunteerism among its students and staff and transforming volunteer initiatives into organized and sustainable programs that contribute to community service. It also reflects the mission of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Baghdad to promote community engagement and sustainable development.
The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
