The Department of Radio and Television at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, held a scientific workshop titled “The Importance of Respecting Different Opinions in Creating a Healthy University Environment.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Zainab Jumaa Jassim and attended by a number of college students, as part of efforts to promote cultural and intellectual awareness and foster constructive dialogue on campus.
The workshop highlighted the importance of respecting differing opinions and perspectives in building university relationships based on mutual understanding and intellectual tolerance. It also addressed the development of dialogue and objective discussion skills, as well as accepting different ideas without prejudice or exclusion, helping create a positive learning environment where students can express their views freely and responsibly.
The workshop emphasized that respect for differing opinions is a fundamental pillar in developing informed university students who can engage with intellectual and social diversity. This is particularly important in academic institutions, which play a central role in fostering critical thinking and promoting citizenship and coexistence.
The event is part of the College of Mass Communication’s efforts to support educational and awareness-raising activities that develop students’ intellectual and social awareness. It aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
