Master’s students in the Department of Public Relations at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, have launched an awareness project titled “Tamkeen – Toward Digital Resilience,” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Jabbar Al-Shammari. The project aims to raise public awareness of fake digital content generated by artificial intelligence, including images, videos, audio, and news.
The project addresses the problem of public misinformation caused by AI-generated content, which can negatively affect community awareness and people’s ability to distinguish between factual information and digitally fabricated content.
The project seeks to provide the public with simple and practical skills to help distinguish authentic content from fabricated material and, consequently, build stronger digital resilience.
The project also relies on audience engagement through social media platforms. The students created dedicated project pages on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Telegram, in addition to publishing short Reels explaining the project’s concept and objectives in an engaging and accessible way.
The “Tamkeen – Toward Digital Resilience” project is part of the College of Mass Communication’s efforts to promote digital and community awareness, helping protect society from digital misinformation and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
