The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad organized a dialogue seminar titled “The Role of Iraqi Media in Addressing Current Challenges,” under the patronage of the Office of the Prime Minister and organized by the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance, under the supervision of the President of the University of Baghdad, with broad official and academic participation.
The seminar was held at the Freedom Hall at the College of Mass Communication, attended by Prime Minister’s Advisor Haider Al-Saadi, Deputy Minister of Education Muzahim Al-Samarrai, University of Baghdad President Raghad Al-Hashemi, and Dean of the College of Mass Communication Ammar Tahir Mohammed, along with a number of faculty members, researchers, and those interested in media affairs.
The seminar addressed the main challenges facing Iraqi media amid rapidly changing circumstances, particularly the impact of digital media, the spread of misinformation, and the importance of adhering to professional standards in reporting events and producing media content.
The seminar also featured a number of academic papers and contributions focusing on the role of the media in raising community awareness and promoting national discourse, as well as the importance of building effective partnerships between academic institutions and government agencies to improve media performance and keep pace with recent developments.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants emphasized the need to continue holding such academic and dialogue events, which contribute to supporting Iraqi media and developing the capabilities of media professionals, thereby strengthening its role in addressing challenges and serving the community.
