Dr. Al-Siraj presented a research paper titled “The Impact of Iraqi Online Press Coverage of the Drug Crisis on University Youth.” The study was based on a sample of 400 participants, including academics, media professionals, security personnel, and religious figures.
The findings indicated that the overall impact of media coverage was moderate, with satellite television channels leading in terms of audience engagement with the issue. The study highlighted social and familial factors as primary drivers of the phenomenon, while political and economic instability contributed to its escalation.
The research emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach that integrates security, social, and awareness-raising measures, alongside the development of relevant legislation and the creation of employment opportunities for young people. It also underscored the potential role of the media in promoting awareness and prevention
