The Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr Ammar Taher Mohammed, met with the college’s Assistant Lecturers in a meeting that highlighted their key role in advancing academic development and improving the quality of teaching and research.
The Dean described Assistant Lecturers as a young and active academic force with a major responsibility in shaping the college’s future, noting their energy, fresh ideas and ability to keep pace with rapid developments in media and communication.
He stressed the need to strengthen research efforts, develop teaching skills, and actively participate in academic activities and training programmes, in line with the university’s efforts to achieve institutional accreditation and improve its academic rankings.
He also called for a stronger team spirit, initiative and a sense of responsibility, urging the Assistant Lecturers to contribute to supporting students academically and professionally. The Dean of the College, Professor Dr Ammar Taher, said the college places particular emphasis on postgraduate studies as a key driver of scientific research and knowledge development in media disciplines. He noted that monitoring the examinations reflects the college’s commitment to applying academic standards and ensuring fairness and discipline in student assessment.
The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr Haider Ahmed Alou, said the examinations are being conducted in accordance with the regulations and instructions approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He stressed the importance of providing an organised examination environment that enables students to sit their exams under appropriate conditions and in line with postgraduate requirements and established academic standards.
The examinations form part of the completion of the academic year’s requirements and the college’s ongoing academic and research programmes aimed at preparing researchers and specialists capable of contributing to the development of media studies and advancing the quality of academic research.
