side via videoconference to discuss completing the requirements for implementing the cooperation agreement with the France Médias Monde Academy, in preparation for launching a new academic program entitled “Renewed Path.” The two-year program will feature a dedicated slogan and a distinctive visual identity.
The meeting is part of a series of working sessions between the two sides. Over the past weeks, specialized teams have continued their efforts to finalize the program in its comprehensive form, in preparation for the launch of the first phase. A subsequent meeting is scheduled to be held on 17 November 2025 to discuss and formally approve the course curricula.
The Dean of the College of Mass Communication, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, affirmed that “this program represents a qualitative step in the development of the College’s curricula and reflects its academic vision of openness to well-established international experiences.” He noted that “Renewed Path will be built upon the methodology of the French School of Journalism, which is known for its strong focus on professional practice and innovation in media content production.”
He further explained that “the program will provide students and faculty members with opportunities for joint training and professional development, contributing to enhancing graduates’ competencies and advancing their skills in digital journalism and multimedia media fields.” He emphasized that “the College remains committed to adopting international partnerships that elevate the academic and media landscape in Iraq.”
It is worth noting that the agreement to implement the new program was signed on 25 September 2025, in the presence of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, the Adviser at the French Embassy in Baghdad, Mounir Slimani, as well as a number of faculty members, staff, and students. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Iraqi side by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, and on behalf of the French side by the President of the Academy, Antoine Comery.
The new agreement extends a previous collaboration between the College of Mass Communication and the France Médias Monde Academy, under which the “Innovative Journalism in Iraq” initiative was launched in 2022 in coordination with the French Embassy. The initiative focused on training faculty members and students in digital editing, multimedia content production, fact-checking, and the management of modern media platforms.
The previous initiative contributed to transferring advanced practical expertise to the College’s staff and provided faculty members and students with access to hands-on workshops and training opportunities supervised by international experts. Today, it serves as a solid foundation for launching the “Renewed Path” program as a new phase of productive academic and media cooperation between the two sides.
