The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the College of Law, has finalized its preparations for the launch of the Sixth International Scientific Conference and the Eighteenth Annual Conference, to be held under the theme “Media Between Legislation and Professional Ethics.” The conference will take place on 19–20 November, with broad participation from researchers and media professionals from Iraq and abroad.

The College’s Deanship affirmed that this year’s conference will be held in a distinct academic format, marked by the diversity of its themes and the depth of its research papers, in addition to the constructive cooperation with specialized colleges in the legal field to support the regulatory and ethical dimensions of media practice.

The conference program includes seven scientific sessions addressing a range of topics, including media legislation, publishing ethics, and the growing challenges of digital media. The event will conclude with a seventh and final session during which the conference recommendations will be announced, aiming to develop legal frameworks that support freedom of expression while regulating professional performance within media institutions.

The College noted that the Sixth International Conference represents an important academic milestone in its journey, reflecting its continued commitment to updating the academic research system, strengthening scientific partnerships, and providing a research environment that integrates media legislation with professional ethics within a comprehensive vision that contributes to enhancing media practice in Iraq.

The conference will bring together a distinguished group of Iraqi and Arab researchers representing reputable universities from several countries. The sessions are expected to feature in-depth academic discussions and research presentations addressing the latest findings in media studies, legislation, and digital communication.

The convening of the conference contributes to advancing the fourth goal: Quality Education and the sixteenth goal: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions of the Sustainable Development Goals by supporting media legislation, promoting transparency, and reinforcing professional values within the media and publishing environment.
