An academic delegation from Diyala University, headed by Prof. Dr. Jalil Wadi and including Assistant Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul Sattar and Dr. Mohammad Adnan, met with Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher, Head of the Deans’ Committee of Media Colleges and Departments in Iraq, to discuss the potential establishment of a College of Mass Communication at Diyala University.
The meeting addressed the academic and administrative frameworks necessary to establish a modern media college, based on curricula adopted by Iraqi media colleges and aligned with the rapid digital transformations in journalism, audiovisual media, and digital communication.
Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that “establishing a College of Mass Communication at Diyala University represents a significant academic addition, expanding the reach of media education in Iraq and supporting media institutions with professionally qualified graduates who possess both academic and practical awareness.”
He also stressed the importance of adopting advanced study programs, establishing modern training laboratories, and building effective partnerships with media institutions to enhance graduates’ readiness for the labor market.
The Diyala University delegation expressed its gratitude for the warm reception and academic support, affirming the university’s commitment to completing the official requirements in coordination with the Deans’ Committee of Media Colleges and Departments in Iraq.
This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to develop Iraq’s academic media infrastructure and support educational pathways that contribute to sustainable development and the formation of a responsible professional media sector serving both society and the state.
