The Human Rights Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled “Women’s Contributions to Embedding Ethical and Social Values among Generations in Iraqi Society.” The session was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Ayoun Saad Jumaa, Head of the Human Rights Unit at the college.
The workshop aimed to highlight the pivotal role women play in instilling ethical and social values in younger generations and in promoting positive behaviors that contribute to social stability. It also addressed key themes, including the role of the family in social upbringing, the challenges faced by women, and the impact of media and social networking platforms.
The lecturer emphasized that women represent a fundamental pillar in shaping children’s values, while media has become an increasingly influential parallel factor, calling for greater educational and digital awareness among women.
She further stressed the importance of empowering women intellectually and educationally to enhance their role in building a cohesive society.
The workshop recommended intensifying awareness programs, supporting constructive media content, and strengthening cooperation between families and educational institutions to reinforce values among generations.
The outcomes of the workshop align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on quality education, SDG 5 on gender equality, and SDG 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions, through enhancing women’s role in education and value-building, contributing to the development of aware generations capable of advancing sustainable societal development.
