The Deanship of the College of Mass Communication received an awareness project titled “Tamkeen… Towards Digital Immunity,” prepared by postgraduate master’s students in the Department of Public Relations under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ali Jabbar Al-Shammari. The initiative aims to confront digital misinformation and AI-generated misleading content.
The project was officially submitted to the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, who emphasized the importance of scientific initiatives that keep pace with rapid digital transformations, praising the efforts of postgraduate students in employing academic knowledge to serve society and enhance media awareness.
The Head of the Department of Public Relations, Professor Dr. Jaafar Al-Shahid, also received a copy of the project, commending its applied and intellectual value and its role in addressing one of the most pressing challenges in today’s media environment.
The “Tamkeen” project aims to raise public awareness about the risks of misleading content produced through artificial intelligence, including fabricated images, videos, audio recordings, and fake news, which negatively affect public perception and trust in information sources.
The project team launched awareness platforms across social media networks, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Telegram, to publish educational content on identifying fake news and verifying the authenticity of digital materials.

The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by promoting public awareness, combating misinformation, and strengthening access to reliable information.
