Prof. Dr. Ammar Tahir Mohammed, Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, held an official meeting with Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dahad, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs and Scientific Research, to discuss ways to strengthen academic cooperation with France, particularly with France Médias Monde, and the adoption of the Bologna Process in media colleges and departments across Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Hazem Abdul Razzaq, Director of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Sadiq Awad, Assistant Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations. The participants discussed mechanisms for developing media education in accordance with modern European standards.
The meeting also addressed the importance of expanding cooperation between media colleges and departments in Iraq and French media institutions in ways that contribute to updating academic curricula, strengthening practical training, and facilitating the academic and administrative procedures required to implement joint programs, particularly those associated with the “Masar Mutajaddid” (Renewed Path) project.
The participants also emphasized the importance of adopting the Bologna Process in media colleges and departments as a strategic step toward organizing academic programs, standardizing academic standards, and facilitating student and faculty mobility in line with institutional accreditation requirements and higher education quality standards.
The attendees reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the College of Mass Communication to supporting development initiatives and overcoming challenges facing international partnerships. These efforts are intended to strengthen the standing of media education in Iraq and open new avenues for academic cooperation with leading international institutions, particularly France Médias Monde.
