Professor Noha Atef of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Beni-Suef University in Egypt praised the themes of the 7th International Scientific Conference and 19th Annual Conference of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad. She highlighted the importance of the topics addressed in examining shifts in media discourse and the impact of digital technologies on content production and public opinion.

Atef said the conference, titled “Media and Shifts in Discourse Amid Contemporary Digital Transformations,” provides a platform for academic discussion on the relationship between audiences and media outlets amid changes in the form and substance of media discourse and the growing use of artificial intelligence in media and news production, across both traditional media and digital platforms.

She added that technological developments have given rise to new media phenomena, including robot presenters and virtual studios, raising questions about their impact on public opinion, particularly amid the growing influence of filter bubbles and algorithmic bias. These developments, she noted, pose scientific and professional challenges for media organizations and practitioners.

Atef stressed that examining these issues is essential to understanding the transformations taking place in contemporary media and analyzing their implications for media practice and the production and reception of messages.

She also expressed her appreciation for the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, praising its academic standing, contributions to theoretical media studies, and role in preparing generations of academics and media professionals equipped with expertise and professional integrity.

The conference will be held on November 25–26, 2026, and will examine shifts in media discourse in the digital environment, the role of modern technologies in producing and shaping content, and the professional and ethical challenges associated with media practice. Its themes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
