The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, held a training workshop titled “Image Enhancement for Publication,” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Qasim and Assistant Lecturer Faisal Fouad, with the participation of a number of undergraduate students.

The workshop aimed to develop participants’ technical skills in handling press and media images and highlight their importance in creating published content. It also focused on improving image quality, correcting visual flaws, adjusting lighting, colors, contrast, and sharpness, and selecting images appropriate to the nature of media content, while observing professional and ethical standards in image editing and publication.

The workshop included an overview of key image-enhancement tools and software, along with practical exercises in adjusting lighting and colors, cropping, and balancing images. Examples were also presented to demonstrate the differences between images before and after editing, as well as ways to use them professionally across media and digital platforms.

The workshop is part of the Women’s Affairs Unit’s training activities aimed at developing media and technical skills and keeping pace with the requirements of digital publishing, in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
