Master’s students in the Public Relations Department at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, have launched an awareness project titled “Empowerment – Towards Digital Immunity”, supervised by Professor Dr Ali Jabar Al-Shammari. The project aims to enhance public awareness of misleading digital content generated by artificial intelligence, including images, videos, audio, and news.

The project addresses the growing problem of public misinformation caused by AI-generated content, which negatively affects societal awareness and the ability to distinguish between factual and fabricated digital material.

It seeks to equip the public with simple, practical skills to help identify authentic versus manipulated content, thereby building stronger digital resilience.

The initiative also relies on audience engagement through social media platforms, where students have created dedicated pages on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Telegram. They have also produced short reel videos explaining the project’s concept and objectives in an accessible and engaging format.

The “Empowerment – Towards Digital Immunity” project is part of the College of Mass Communication’s efforts at the University of Baghdad to promote digital and societal awareness, contributing to protecting society from digital misinformation and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
