The College of Mass Communication hosted an official delegation from the National Security Service, received by Dean Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, in a step reflecting a serious move toward building an effective institutional partnership aimed at serving society and strengthening digital security.
The meeting discussed prospects for joint cooperation in several areas, most notably launching awareness programs to reduce cyber extortion cases, counter irresponsible content on social media platforms, and promote direct communication with relevant security authorities in emergency situations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the media’s role in building societal awareness, particularly amid increasing digital challenges, agreeing to activate joint initiatives that combine security expertise with media capabilities to create a safer and more responsible digital environment.
The College of Mass Communication also announced that it will place all its facilities, including specialized laboratories and modern studios, at the service of training and media programs implemented by the National Security Service, in support of developing awareness content and enhancing security media performance.
This step aligns with the college’s vision to strengthen national partnerships and employ media as an effective tool in addressing societal and security issues, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by promoting social stability, strengthening trust in institutions, and protecting individuals from digital threats.
