The College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, has received an official invitation to become a strategic academic partner in the Global Peace Journalism Summit 2026, scheduled to be held at the University of Nairobi in the Kenyan capital from November 25 to 27, 2026, with the participation of international academic and media institutions.
The invitation was extended by Infonell Communications Ltd., the Department of Diplomacy and International Studies at the University of Nairobi, and the summit’s local organizing committee. The organizers praised the academic standing of the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, and its experience in journalism education, digital media, and professional ethics. They expressed their interest in the College’s contribution to international discussions on the future of journalism and the safety of media professionals.
The proposed partnership includes the participation of faculty members as speakers and panelists, contributing to the preparation of the “Nairobi Declaration on the Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts,” as well as opportunities for students to participate in multimedia storytelling, present research, and produce joint journalistic reports.
The invitation reflects the College of Mass Communication’s growing international engagement and efforts to expand academic partnerships in journalism, digital media, and scientific research, providing its faculty and students with opportunities to participate in international forums and contribute to discussions on professional issues and the future of journalism.
The summit’s themes are aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly its focus on building peaceful societies, supporting the rule of law, and protecting freedoms. They also correspond with Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through institutional cooperation among academic, cultural, and media organizations in Iraq and Kenya.
