The Dean of the College of Mass Communication, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, received the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Clemens Semtner, during an official visit that included the inauguration of the college mural and a review of its academic and media activities as well as student projects.
The visit featured an extensive tour of the college facilities, including laboratories, studios, and classrooms, in addition to the opening of student media and creative projects that reflect the academic and professional development of students in digital journalism and media production.
The EU Ambassador also held an interactive session with students, discussing the importance of press freedom and the role of media in promoting democratic values and pluralism, as well as the challenges facing journalism worldwide. He emphasized the importance of supporting young talents and enabling them to keep pace with modern media developments.
The visit included attendance at the college’s Digital Journalism Festival, where the ambassador reviewed student outputs and media projects, expressing admiration for the professional and creative level demonstrated by the students.
As part of the visit, he was hosted by the College Radio, where he gave an interview discussing cultural and media cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, and the importance of expanding dialogue and openness between academic and youth institutions.
For his part, the Dean stressed the college’s commitment to engaging with international missions and institutions to enhance the educational and media environment, noting that the visit represents significant moral support for students and their creative projects.
At the end of the visit, the Dean presented the EU Ambassador with a commemorative shield in appreciation of his visit and his support for press freedom and academic youth in Iraq.
