The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized an awareness workshop titled “Drugs and Their Impact on Individuals, Families, and Society.” The session was delivered by the Head of the Department of Radio and Television, Prof. Dr. Ali Abbas Fadhel, and attended by faculty members, staff, and students.

During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Ali Abbas Fadhel discussed the health, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse and its serious impact on the safety and stability of society. He emphasized that addressing this challenge requires coordinated institutional and community efforts, beginning with early awareness and the promotion of positive values among young people.

The workshop also highlighted the vital role of the media in combating drug abuse through the production of professional and impactful media messages, promoting a culture of prevention, raising awareness of the dangers of drug use and addiction, and supporting national campaigns aimed at protecting society and strengthening public awareness.

The workshop was part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the Continuing Education Unit as part of the College’s academic and social responsibility to promote preventive awareness and contribute to preparing a well-informed generation capable of addressing the intellectual and social challenges facing society.
