The Dean of the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed, affirmed that admission to the College’s master’s and doctoral programs is conducted strictly in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for applicants from both inside and outside Iraq.
He stressed that the College welcomes all eligible applicants and that admission procedures are carried out without personal discretion or exceptions.
The Dean explained that applicants holding master’s degrees from Iraqi, Arab, or international universities are subject to the approved academic equivalency procedures. Candidates who meet the admission requirements and obtain the required 40% academic equivalency in one of the College’s academic departments are eligible to compete for the available graduate study seats in line with the approved admission plan and Ministry regulations.
Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed also noted that each department or college of mass communication at Iraqi public universities follows its own admission plan and regulations, all of which are centrally issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He emphasized that the Council of Deans of Mass Communication has no authority or role in the admission of graduate students.
He further clarified that the Sectoral Committee for Mass Communication, which he chairs, is responsible solely for academic and disciplinary matters and has no involvement in graduate admissions at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, or at any other mass communication college or department in Iraqi public universities.
